Poker Blog of the Month
Mean Gene's blog proclaims he's "Pittsburgh's most decorated poker blogger, which I admit is like being the best shortstop in Greenland."
This poker blog is created by freelance writer, Gene Bromberg. The guy writes with a sense of humor and self-deprecating tone that endears him to many readers and fellow bloggers. He writes about his adventures and misadventures on the road to poker tournaments after tournaments in his own farcical, straightforward way.
Mean Gene also writes a poker column called The Poker Corner for a Boston based paper, Barstool Sports, where he shares his insights on the game itself, and the poker industry as a whole.
Some of his best lines are:
"You could argue that Socrates was the first poker theorist when he said “Know Thyself”, and it’s true that no player can be successful if he has any delusions about his skills or motivation...So, once you’ve completed THAT spiritual journey, let’s move to the next question—why the heck are you wearing sunglasses indoors?" (Why It Is Foolish To Wear Sunglasses)
"I have tremendous sympathy for people with gambling problems. I don't pretend that there aren't consequences. But the idea that there are vast hordes of zombies out there transfering their life savings to PartyPoker is just hysteria." (The Government We Deserve)
"Rather than write 1,000 words about how England is a rich, noble, and most fortunate nation despite it's loss today, I'll skip that and instead say this--how come they can't find five guys at a time who can hit a penalty kick?" (God Save The Queen)
Oh yes, Mean Gene's blog also cover other sports and news events, so it's safe to say he doesn't eat, drink, and digest poker all the time.
